  1. Why is Lost Ark getting a pass on their shitty monetization? not just here, but streamers and youtubers everywhere are giving it a pass. That kind of shit on any other game would get dumped on, people would still buy em, nothin would change, but other games would not get this gentle press coverage that Lost Ark is getting….

  2. I understand you're trying to be positive and nice to people in the industry man….but magic legends was really bad…there was no story, the game was clunky, no real mechanical cohesion with skills. It wasn't just any beta it was open beta….which usually means the game is the closest to completion. Which that game was not.

  3. A certain level of p2w is fine. If you're playing a game you haven't spent a single cent on you should expect that those who make that possible for you by paying for the development of the game will enjoy some privileges. Whiny f2p losers are the worst type of choosing beggars. And I say this as a f2p player – I'm perfectly content with paying customers getting stuff that make them stronger than me.

  4. Lost Ark is cool, fun and different enough Within the a RPG market to keep me entertained on and off until Diablo 4. With that being said I am currently not even playing it. LOL

  5. One thing you can’t take away from blizzard entertainment, is within all of their games good or bad the art direction is on point. With a few exceptions here and they’re mainly in regards to remastered games…I’m looking at you W3:Reforged.

  6. Rhyker pay to win does not mean the advantage has to be massive, it just means that you can pay for an advantage. If buying items lets you hit level ups sooner, gets you items to help progress faster, offers you utilities that circumvent punishments meant to delay or stagger gameplay then these are all pay to win features, it doesn't matter if a player playing the game can sometimes acquire these benefits, the fact that on demand you can pay for them and use them whenever you want instead of how F2P users will use them sparingly – makes for a huge difference in fairness between the two groups.

Lost Ark is P2W full stop, don't make excuses for it.

  7. You can’t make a game where playing for a decade is not required to be a top player while being a strategy game because the human mind doesn’t work like that unless you give someone some kind of brain steroids

  8. Huh, so Cryptic was developing MTG Legends? Honestly can't say I'm totally surprised at the results then sadly. I played City of Heroes/Villains back in the day, and though I have fond memories of good times in that game, gotta say it was all due to a quality community rather than the game itself. Even then, Cryptic made some very questionable design decisions, and from what I've seen of their other efforts since then that unfortunate attitude of "We have a vision and we don't care what players think" has persisted. Obviously I know nothing of the Legends game at all but yeah that developer name attached to it has some history.

  9. What the hell is this "Diablo" you keep talking about? Is it a cooking style? Hair style? An obscure technique for folding your clothes when putting them away for the season?

  10. aRPG Magic is what they need to really blow up. MTG really needs wake up and follow suit and jump into either the cinema field or video game genre. They have a near infinite amount of lore to pull from. There's no excuse not to make the leap out of the TCG corner In my mind.

  11. it sounds like the p2w situation in Lost Ark is similar to that in Pokemon Go, its rampant, but nobody is actually winning anything (except for the mtx vendors), we are all just losers

  12. P2W, if you don't pay, the game becomes a job, you will have to expend a lot of time playing to keep with the whales.
It just don't worth the time and effort.

  13. I wish David Kim luck and look forward to what he can do unshackled.
Lost Ark…. I'm in the same boat so I'll wait and see. Pay to get the thing now or do this meaningless grind is not my thing. Like Fallout 76, it lets Devs create problems that need/can to be solved with in-game purchases. I prefer good gameplay over cash grabs…. errr surprise mechanics.

  14. MTG: Legends had a great concept, but awful execution.

I was part of the technical alpha and with 48 hours of the alpha's start, I was already getting ads for micro-transactions to buy skins, spells, and other cosmetics. Not only that, the game's "card" mechanics were garbage. Having skill X on random keys every single time made combat convoluted and annoying.

I hope WotC can learn from this and try again, but with a less lofty idea and a much better execution.

  15. If only I could stop aging before games come out….. But no.
Developers take note. Your fan base are getting old and having more commitments. While you are doing your jobs earning money, we are living our lives as time goes on. A newborn child, aging parents, work, studies, etc. You can still do what you wanted all day. But we are running out of time. How much time was Diablo 2 -> Diablo 4? Elderscrolls 3 to Elderscrolls 6? Take note they are still not out yet. The counting goes on…

  16. As for Lost Ark: Xp boosters etc for pve progress = Pay for Convenience.

If a cash shop sell gear/costumes with boosted stats then it is P2W if it affects open world PvP.

  17. f2p as a concept will never really be settled IMO. Here's how I see it: f2p is what a player labels a game when they feel frustrated when they worked hard in game for something that someone just purchased to get. simple as that. This is not to slight any players that deal with that frustration, as I've been there. but this label is something that people will throw out at any time based on how they feel. simple as that.

  18. With Free To Play games, I believe you have to think "Okay so I'm just going to buy the full game for $80 and then play it." In a way, Free to play is the old "Game Demo" or "Free trial." You don't get the full game unless you pay like $80, or wait until the price comes down. And waiting means falling way behind. When you think of it that way, it makes sense. They real problem comes when there is no limit. So if you pay $80, you should never need to pay anymore to get the full game, unless they are expansions, or mini expansions like Character packs or cosmetics. So maybe the free trial is slower but once you pay $80, you are just as fast as everyone else. Because feeling like you have to pay $2,000 to be the most progressed player in the world, isn't a good feeling. No one should have to pay over the "whole game" amount to be able to compete. That's what I think anyway.

  19. I was always interest in MTG Legends as a fan of the game. But I barely made it through the tutorial without feeling bored. I liked the card idea but instead of strategy and deck building, it was just, play whatever you have. Too bad. Maybe we'll get a good MTG game eventually.
