  1. It’s so sad how wotc is either too incapable or too indifferent with wanting to invest actual money and effort into having a videogame based on magic.

We keep hearing about how magic is trying to grow and reach more non magic players, that’s why we’re dealing with the nonesense of Universes Beyond and crossover cards. Meanwhile magic still doesn’t have a movie or a videogame or anything that actually impacts the mainstream.

Imagine if magic actually had a videogame that was on par with other RPG’s. I guarantee that does more for this game that having a crossover secret lair with fucking Stranger things and Walking dead

  2. I'm actually kind of happy the set was kinda powered down for several reasons.

1: MH2 has been out for only a few weeks. Give us time to buy/trade into the recent set before bombarding us with new releases.

2: We don't need another Eldraine. I was scared they where going to push this set because they might think the crossover appeal might not be enough to get people to buy packs.

The powerlevel is fine. The set seems fun to draft, but i won't be spending as much as i'm doing on MH2. Mostly because i don't like other ip's in MtG. But also because i don't feel forced to buy stuff to keep up.

  3. It's still really weird that they made Zariel's Emblem weak against decks with removal.
You can just counter the additional combat step by shooting the creature.

  4. I cant believe this set is so "lackluster" in power level. The rare land cycle is fine, but most standard decks will play 1-4 in total whereas most standard land cycles see 4-8 in a deck. That usually means a pushed power level (Eldraine)

  5. Seth has been wrong about cards before (looking at you Circle of Loyalty), but he was also VERY high on Yorion after spoiler season and the rest of the crew was pretty low on it. I think Master of Flowers has some potential (after rotation of course since it's not Eldraine level of power).

  6. I want sets for standard to be as weak as this, but also interesting. I want to have fun and not be bodied by a deck with free spells and undercosted mythics (cough cough questing beast, ember cleave cough ) my jank deck shouldnt instantly lose to a mythic pile, get milled to oblivion, or not be able to interact, or be ultimatimumed at turn 4. This, strixhaven, and kaldheim are what I like, but I was not a fan of zendikar rising.

  7. With Asmodeus if you get him in your graveyard and play Necrotic ooze then Necrotic Ooze only has the triple B draw 7 and the B lose life part and not the downside of putting them facedown and first.

  8. Yeah as a D&D and MTG fan I was pretty disappointed with this set.. What I do like is that we can play bo1 standard WITH rotation when this set drops to give us a preview of what the meta may look like in September

  9. My plan is to collect and play a DnD only format so the power level is irrelevant to me. If the mythics tank ill be thrilled to pick up playsets for cheap though no ones going to be doing mass box openings so the unsealed supply might not be there.

  10. Who's going to tell Seth we don't have to wait until rotation to see how wrong he is about Grand Master of Flowers? The Standard 2022 queue is going live on Arena this week!

  11. There are people who complain about die rolling, saying that its too random, yet defending Collected Company and Aetherworks Marvel.
The majority of the die rolling cards have a far higher floor then either of those.

  12. You need to balance out the colors of the cards you discuss. Kinda u fair to discuss 3-4 black and blue cards but only one white card.

Was really looking forward to seeing thoughts on book of exaulted deeds.

  13. Haven't watched the cast yet, this pertains to the comments though.

In the comments of Strixhaven chat about power level I saw a good amount of disappointment at the powerlevel. This set feels about on par and most comments are positive.

If anyone felt bad about Strixhaven and not about AFR, why?

  14. I think Seth is definitely correct on Grand Master of Flowers. Crim and Richard seemed to think you need 4 Monks for Bahamut to work, and yet missed that he can tutor for one from the GRAVEYARD so you really only need 2 at most since if one dies you just get it from the graveyard. And the +1 can shut down a large threat so long as it doesnt have one of those abilities, which many don't.
